APEX is an immersive fashion collection by Taylor Childs Studio rooted in the history of Detroit's Paradise Valley and the artist's family legacy. Inspired by the Apex Bar, a Black owned nightclub (owned by Childs great- great uncle spurgeon Harvey) operated by Childs' relatives during the height of Paradise Valley's cultural and musical influence, the collection honors a lineage of entrepreneurship, community, and creative resilience. Drawing from family archives, textiles, and material culture, APEX reimagines these histories through wearable art, handcrafted garments, and installation. The collection invites viewers to reflect on Black memory, identity, and the enduring power of preserving stories across generations.
